[Drawings to Specification.] [Class 8 (i)] A multistage compressor as described in Specification 552,298 is driven by an internal combustion engine the valves of which are operated by the second crankshaft rotating at half the speed of the first shaft driving the first-stage piston. The engine pistons may be set at 360 degrees while the first-stage compressor piston is at 180 degrees.
