Abstract
788,492. Rotary engines and pumps. BERGEDORFER EISENWERK AKT.-GES. ASTRAWERKE. March 5, 1956 [March 3, 1955], No. 6801/56. Class 110 (2). In a multi-stage rotary compressor or engine of the outwardly-sliding vane type the rotor is subdivided into separate sections such as K1, K2, K3 by plates T1, T2, T3 which engage annular grooves formed in the cylinder 2. The grooves are sealed by mercury centrifugally fed thereto and each plate is provided with two recesses to permit a series flow of fluid, such as steam, through the unit. Cooling oil is sprayed over the cylinder and fed to the bearings and is recirculated by a pump 12 through a cooler 13 to its source 11. An electric motor is mounted directly on the hollow shaft 3 of the piston and the drive is transmitted to the cylinder by carnk means 20.
