Abstract
604,972. Rotary engines and pumps. REYNOLDS METALS CO. Dec. 11, 1945, No. 33436. Convention date, April 27. [Class 110 (ii)] A hydraulic engine or pump of the rotary abutment type has two or more annular cylinders 11, 11x, 11xx through which move pistons 13, 13x, 13xx, attached to rotors 10, 10x, 10xx, and co-act with recesses in a rotary abutment 3. For an engine, fluid enters through a port 5, passes to the cylinders 11x and 11xx by way of passages 4, 4x and is exhausted through a port 6. Gears 15, 15x couple the piston and abutment shafts together. In a modified arrangement, a two-cylinder engine drives a shaft attached to the flange of a motor car wheel.
