Abstract

602,465. Rotary engines. COVENTRY GAUGE & TOOL CO., Ltd., RUSHTON, H. L., and WOODHOUSE, C. H. L. April 13, 1945, No. 9227. [Class 110 (ii)] A hydraulic motor or pump of the axiallysliding vane type comprises a rotor 14 supporting vanes 11 mounted on bearings 32 in slots 31, which are moved axially by cams 29, 30, in a stator 20, 23, or by hydraulically-actuated pistons, so that slots in the vanes periodically line up with fixed abutments 15. Inlet and exhaust ports 26, 27 for hydraulic fluid are connected with pressure and exhaust chambers P and E respectively on each side of a vane. The stator is built up of rings 20 ... 23 which is secured to a cover 18 by bolts 24. Axial port holes 25 connect inlet and outlet passages 19 to inlet and exhaust ports 26, 27. Fig. 3 shows the relative movements of vanes and cams over 360 degrees. The abutments may be fixed to the rotor (becoming vanes) and the vanes behave as axially-sliding abutments.
