Abstract
515,988. Rotary engines. BOOTH, M. B. May 23, 1938, No. 37279. Divided out of 498,226. [Class 110 (ii)] An engine or pump of the type shown is provided with means to balance axially and radially, the fluid pressures on the two rotors in each engine. In Figs. 1, 2, the rotor C, on a shaft B carries vanes C<2> integral with a flange C' and a ring C<3>. An annular working chamber A<1> is formed between casing parts A and X with a recess D' to allow the sealing of the abutment D during its rotation. Passages G<4>, G<3>, allow communication with one another of spaces G, G<1>, G<2>. Recesses D<4>, D<5>, through passages D<6>, D<7>, communicate with the outlet and inlet ports F, E. Fig. 3 shows an alternative structure with an abutment N' driven by gears M, M<1>, M<2>, from the shaft K<1>. The spaces at the rotor ends are in communication with each other and recesses Q, R, through passages Q', R', with the high pressure and low pressure passages P, O respectively.
