804,602. Rotary pumps and motors. BRITISH INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Sept. 29, 1955 [Oct. 5, 1954], No. 28658/54. Class 110 (2). A rotary motor or pump, Fig. 4a, comprises a series of blades 4 which are rotated about their axes at the same speed as a rotor 1 by means of a suitable crank, gear or eccentric mechanism (see also Fig. 4, not shown). The device is provided with inlet and outlet ports 18, 19 which may be variously arranged in the wall of the casing for details of which Figs. 5-5g (not shown) should be referred to. Seals may be disposed between the blades in order to reduce the number thereof (see Fig. 6, not shown) or disposed adjacent the minimum and maximum area sectors of the device (see Fig. 7, not shown). Again, the device may be provided with stationary seals 26 and the rotor with a seal at 21 (see Fig. 9a). Finally, the embodiment of Fig. 9a may be provided with blades having parallel sides (see Fig. 10, not shown), or incorporate a rotor having opposed recesses formed in its inner and outer walls for blade clearance purposes (see Fig. 11, not shown).
