Abstract
576,932. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. July 10, 1944, No. 13168. Convention date, July 14, 1943. [Class 51 (i)] In pulverulent fuel furnaces of the high or low pressure type slag is removed from the ,combustion gases after they have left the main combustion chamber 1, Fig. 1, by giving them a rotary motion by blades 6 arranged in a partition 2 whereby the fused slag and unburnt coal dust are thrown against the wall of the chamber 3 and run down the wall into an annular groove 7 any unburnt coal dust being burnt by air admitted near the blades 6. The slag free gases pass through the opening 9 to a chamber 10 where they are mixed with air entering through slots 12 and pass through slots 13 to a conduit 14 leading to the point of use. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the wall of the main combustion chamber 21 is lined with evaporator tubes 24 and the gases are given a rotary motion by blades 25 in a partition 22 while the slag collects in the channel 26. Slag free gases pass through the evaporator 28 and thence to a point of use. Solidified dust or slag is collected at 15 or 29.
