Abstract
716,669. Pulverulent-fuel cyclone furnaces. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. June 12, 1952 [June 15, 1951 ; July 30, 1951 ; Aug. 16, 1951], No. 14882/S2. Class 51 (1) A pulverulent-fuel furnace includes a main furnace chamber and an auxiliary cyclone furnace which receives solid particles separated from gases in the main furnace chamber and discharges molten slag. As shown in Fig. 3, grits trom a main furnace chamber 2 are burnt, with or without additional pulverulent fuel,.in a cyclone furnace 14 which discharges into a secondary furnace chamber 46 separated from the main chamber 2 by a gas-tight, refractory-covered water tube wall 49, at the lower part 50 of which the tubes are opened out to form a slag screen through which gases can flow to the main furnace chamber. The main furnace chamber is provided with corner burners 4, an ignition table 5 and slag ducts 6. The gases discharged from the cyclone chamber may be cooled before reaching the main furnace chamber, by the addition thereto of cooled furnace gases or air. Specification 552,747 is referred to.
