Abstract

832,957. Pulverulent fuel burners. BABCOCK & WILCOX CO. Oct. 7, 1958 [Oct. 8, 1957], No. 31927/58. Class 75(1) [Also in Group XII] In a pulverulent fuel fired cyclone furnace, fly ash and entraining air are injected axially into the combustion chamber. Pulverulent fuel and preheated primary air are delivered tangentially to an annular space 60 opening into the combustion chamber 26, and tertiary air delivered tangentially to a chamber 72 passes within the inner wall 58 of the space 60. Fly ash from a hopper 84 is entrained by air passing through a convergent-divergent nozzle 87 and delivered axially of the burner by a conduit 82 opening within the deflector wall 58. Secondary air is fed tangentially to the combustion chamber through individually controlled ducts 47. The burner has water jackets 64, 70. Specifications 598,141 and 598,142 are referred to.
