Abstract
570,522. Pulverulent - fuel furnaces. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. June 19, 1943, No. 9922. Convention date, June 23, 1942. [Class 51 (i)] A pulverized-fuel furnace 1 for heating gases and vapours in tubular apparatus 5, 6 is provided with means for returning waste gases to a mixing chamber 3 where the combustion products are cooled down to a temperature at which slag carried along by the gases solidifies and separates out in the form of dust before reaching the heat exchanger. The Figure shows the invention applied to a furnace in which combustion is effected under pressure. Fuel is fed to the furnace from a pulverizer 2 and air by a compressor 8 driven by a turbine 7 actuated by the combustion products leaving the heat exchanger 5, 6. Part of the combustion products are withdrawn from a dust separator 13 by a fan 10 and supplied to the mixing chamber 3. Part of the gases passing through the heat exchanger 5, 6 may be tapped off at 17 and passed to a heat exchanger 18 from which they are supplied by a blower 10<1> to the chamber 3.
