571,882. Indicating-apparatus; pressure gauges. KITT, L. W. Sept. 11, 1943, No. 14954. [Classes 106 (ii) and 106 (iv)] A measuring instrument in which a force generated or controlled by conditions to be measured is applied to a lever which is coupled to a pointer or the like and has a variable fulcrum controlled by a cam movable by the force and shaped to compensate for differences between variations in the conditions and in the force. As shown in Fig. 1 a Bourdon tube 3 has its end connected by a link 5 to one end-of a lever 7, the fulcrum 8 of which is journalled to a roller 9. An arm 15, which is connected to the lever 7 by a link 20, has a sectoral rack 17 meshing with a pinion 18 keyed to the arbor 11, not shown, which carries a pointer 10 movable over a scale 13. A cam 19 on which the roller 9 bears is also keyed to the arbor 11 and is shaped to compensate for irregularities in the expansion of the Bourdon tube.
