Abstract
568,539. Linear dimension gauges. BENCH, D. E., and CROSBY, M. A. May 19, 1943, No. 7942. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for measuring bores and for other purposes consists of a feeler connected to a pair of beams, the first beam being pivoted at its outer end and connected at its inner end adjacent a fulcrum to the inner end of the second beam, the outer end of this latter beam operating an indicator. The beams are housed in a casing 20, Fig. 2, comprising several detachable parts and provided with a handle 24 whereby the device may be held while being inserted in a bore 33. The first beam 27 is pivoted to the casing at 28, passes over a fulcrum 32 fixed in the casing, and is rigidly attached to the feeler 29. The second beam 30 is also rigidly secured to the feeler and contacts the plunger of a dial indicator 23. Two positioning projections 21 are fixed to the casing 20. In a modification, Fig. 8, the beams 271, 301 are rigidly connected by a block 34 and the feeler 29<1> engages the beam 27<1> between the fulcrum 32<1> and the pivot 281. In further modifications, the feeler is adjustable in length and the position of the fulcrum is adjustable along the axis of the casing.
