Abstract
574,225. Gauges. CAPP, A. Oct. 1, 1943, No. 16121. [Class 106 (ii)] A linear dimension gauge comprises a feeler arm 23, Figs. 3 and 7, connected by a spring clip 26 to a lever arm 21 pivoted at 24 to the base-plate 10. The lever arm 21 has a slot 20 engaging a pin 19 projecting from the hub of a pointer 15. The looped end of a spring 30, Figs. 3 and 8, embraces a pin 40 on the lever arm 21 and the other end of the spring is attached to a disc 31 which can be turned by a knurled knob 321 projecting from the casing so as to urge the pointer 15 to one or other side of the scale 28 according to which side of a notch 33 in the disc 31 presses against a fixed pin 34. In operation, the gauge is clamped to a work table by means of a bar 41, Fig. 3, projecting from a sleeve 42 secured by a screw 43 on a post 44 fixed to the base-plate 10 and the adjusting knob 32<1>, and so the lever arm 21, is set into one or other of its extreme positions according to the position of the surface to be gauged. The gauge is then set so that when the feeler arm 23 is in contact with an exactly true part of the surface to be gauged, the pointer 15 is over the central zero of the scale 28. By moving the work or gauge, any deviation from trueness is indicated. Specification 468,243 is referred to.
