Abstract

1416776 Gauging alignment UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 22 May 1974 [15 Aug 1973] 38624/73 Heading G1M [ Also in Division B3] A device for use with a gauge member 9, e.g. a dial test indicator, for aligning a point on a workpiece 2 relative to a central axis 3 of a tool holder 4 comprises shank part 5 for attaching it to the tool holder 4 in place of a tool normally used in the tool holder, means for supporting the gauge member so that a stylus 8 is movable towards a reference plane 22a containing said central axis 3, a stop member 10 providing a surface 11 lying in said reference plane, and a fulcrum mounted lever 15 pivotable about an axis 16 normal to the said central axis 3, the lever having a workpiececontacting end 17 and a second end 18 for contacting the stylus 8 of the gauge member and for contacting the stop member when its surface 11 lies in the reference plane 22a to enable the gauge member 9 to be set to indicate when the end of the stylus reaches the reference plane, the stop member 10 being movable to a position where it will not be contacted by the lever. The lever end 17 is of a size to enable it to enter small diameter holes e.g. “" dia. The stop member 10 may be a removable block.
