Abstract
573,859. Linear-dimension gauges. OLDAK, F. Dec. 17, 1943, No. 21220. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for measuring internal diameters cornprises a head 1 carrying a fixed contact 3, a slidable gauging contact 5 and two slidable locating contacts 7, 8. The gauging and locating contacts are arranged so that they can be withdrawn into the head by operating a hand lever 16a, Fig. 1, thus enabling the gauge to be readily inserted into a bore. The hand lever 16a pivoted at 17 has a forked end 16b engaging slots in the locating contacts 7, 8 to draw these into the head 1 against the springs 10, 11, the contacts 7, 8 being connected by a bridge 9 bearing against a shoulder on the gauging contact 5 to move this latter also against its spring 6. The gauging contact 5 has a wedge-shaped projection 12, Fig. 2, operating through balls 14 a similar projection 13 secured to a rod 15 passing through the handle 2 to a dial indicator, not shown. The fixed contact 3 may be replaced by a longer member to adapt the gauge for larger bores.
