Abstract
487,375. Gauges. STEINMETZ AKT.- GES., A. L. Oct. 21, 1937, No. 28795. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1936. [Class 106 (ii)] Comprise a particular construction of the micrometer screw three-point contact V-gauge type for cylindrical pieces. A body a is formed with a V-shaped recess having surfaces b, b. Bisecting the angle c is the axis of a sleeve d slidable to a limited extent without rotation on ball bearings e in a bore of the body a. Slidable in the sleeve d is an anvil g moved by a micrometer screw. An arm k on the sleeve engages the feeler pin h of a dial gauge m carried by the body. A pin f projecting into a groove in the sleeve prevents rotation of the sleeve and limits its axial movement. If the distance moved through by the anvil from its position to gauge the smallest diameter of the range to the position for the largest diameter is divided into 100,1,000, or 10,000 parts and the screw is graduated accordingly the dial gauge m will read zero in positions of maximum or minimum range. In use the screw is set to the dimension and differences noted on gauge m.
