Abstract

671,261. Calliper gauges. KRATZER, H. March 21, 1950, No. 6980/50. Class 106 (ii). A sliding calliper gauge for marking off a work-piece W is provided with overlapping offset jaws 2, 8, so that a scriber point N may be used with greater accuracy than in the case of a gauge with jaws in the same plane. The back face 11 of jaw 2 may be used in conjunction with the face 11<SP>1</SP> of jaw 8 to measure a workpiece G as shown in Fig. 3. When closed, the jaw 2 overlaps jaw 8 so that the faces 10, 101 are in the same plane. Fig. 4 shows the calliper gauge in use, the measuring limb 2 lying flat on the face of the work-piece W whilst the gauging face 10 of the other limb is in contact with the side R of the work-piece, thus avoiding small errors due to the slight inclination necessary when both gauging faces are in the same plane.
