Abstract
1,209,087. Caliper gauges. RUMANIA MINISTRY OF MACHINE BUILDING INDUSTRY. April 9, 1968, No. 17095/68. Heading G1M. Vernier calipers which may use one scale on one side of the bar 1 for normal measurements and a double or twice full scale on the other side of bar 1 for measuring the distance between hole centres, comprise a fixed jaw a, Fig.4, movable jaws b and c on a slider 2, and a movable jaw e on a slider 4. To measure the distance between bore centres the distance A, Fig. 3 is first set off between the jaws a and b and the slider 2 screw fixed in position. The calipers are then turned over and the distance B set off between jaws c and e. Now the initial displacement of the slide 2 by the distance A means that the total displacement of slide 4 in Fig.4 is D + d + 2A and this is read on the vernier scale which is twice full scale as ¢ (D + d) + A, which is the distance C between bore centres. Distances between a and b are measured on the normal full scale and the zero of the double full scale starts at the right hand edge of the slider 2 when a and b are closed together.
