Abstract

1330985 Caliper gauges LAWRENCE ADVERTISING Ltd 31 Aug 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 55347/71 Heading G1M Jaws 1 and 2 of an obesity gauge are pivoted together at 6 and urged towards one another by a spring 3, and a flat part 7 of a handle part 4 mounts a rotatable graduated disc 9 which in the position shown has a pointer 10 rotated to be coincident with a pointer part 8 of the other handle part 5 and a zero mark on its scale 11 which is coincident with a fixed mark 12 on the part 7. In operation, an object to be measured e.g. a fold of human flesh, is held between the jaws 1, 2 and the pointer 10 again brought to a point of coincidence with the pointer 8. The calipers may now be opened and removed, but the original reading may still be taken from the position of the fixed marker 12 relative to the scale 11. Additional marker 20, 21 and scales 22, 23 may be provided.
