948,484. Measuring apparatus. SIGMA INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd. Jan. 3,1961 [Jan. 6, 1960], No. 490/60. Heading G1M. Apparatus for measuring a turbine blade comprises three pairs of units 10,11,12 each comprising a feeler 13 mounted on a slide 20 on a fixable body 16 and connected by a spring 20E to a sector 28 so that movement of feeler 13 and slide 20 of one unit 10 rotates sector 28 and a block 31 fixed thereon. Movement of block 31 is transmitted to the measuring anvil 60A of a valve 60 (as described in Specification 823, 712) and movement of feeler 13 on the other unit 10 of the pair also moves a block 31, this movement being transmitted via a plunger 54 to the body of the valve 60. Thus a reading is given on a manometer 73 of the relative positions of feelers 13 on units 10. Valves 42, 80 similar to valve 60 are arranged to give the position of a feeler 13 of unit 11 and the relative positions of feelers of units 10,12. Valves are also arranged to give the relative positions of the two feelers of units 11 and similarly of units 12. The pairs of units 10, 11, 12 are mounted on blocks 7, 8 and three sets of blocks 7, 8 may be slidably arranged on a block 1. To measure turbine blades of different sizes the positions of the blocks 7, 8, the body 16, the block 31 and feelers 13 may be individual adjusted prior to the gauging operation. A setting up device (Fig. 5 not shown) is provided for this purpose. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) the means for transmitting movement from block 31 to valve 60 is altered and so is the way of separating feelers to insert blade 9.
