716,970. Dynamometers. CHERRY, J. Sept. 1, 1952 Sept. 1, 1951], No. 20675/51. Class 106 (2) A lathe or like tool holder is mounted for limited movement in three directions at right angles to each other in a dynamometer in order to measure the three forces indicated in Fig. 1. The tool holder 1 is provided with part barrelshaped surfaces AA, BB, Fig. 2, and is a sliding fit in the hollow body 8. The vertical force V exerted on the tool 2 is measured by a dial gauge C actuated.by a button 3 and diaphraghm 6, the back force Z is measured by the dial gauge D which is actuated by a button 5 and diaphragm 10, and the horizontal force H is measured by a third dial gauge C<SP>1</SP> which is actuated by a button 4 and diaphragm 7. All the dial gauges may be suitably calibrated.
