Abstract

544,465. Gauging apparatus. CLEMENT, F. R. Jan. 29, 1941, No. 1159. [Class 106 (ii)] An instrument for effecting chordal and diametrical measurements comprises an arcuate frame having an indicator, a spring-pressed pivoted trigger arm engaging the indicator, the frame and trigger carrying spaced rollers or balls to engage the work. The frame 1 which supports a visual indicator 2 carries at one end a roller 3 and spaced apart therefrom at the other end attached to a pivoted lever 5 a ball 4. The lever 5 pivoted at 6 is mounted between cheeks and its movement is limited by means of a pin 7 co-operating with a slot 8. The lever is extended to form a trigger arm 9 pressed apart from the handle 10 of the frame by a spring 11. The plunger 13 of the dial gauge 2 engages an abutment 14 on the arm 9. In a modification the bow of the frame is deeper and the device is used for diametrical measurements, a pin on the lever engaging a slot in the edge of the cheeks for the limits.
