765,711. Calipers. M.P.J. GAUGE & TOOL CO., Ltd., and McNAMARA, A. E. Sept. 7, 1955 [Sept. 30, 1954], No. 28182/54. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XX] Calipers comprise pivoted legs 6, 7, a spring 13 urging their free ends apart, a setting screw 25 with an associated scale for giving a fine indication of the setting, and a rotary indicator coupled to at least one of the legs to give a coarse indication. In the form shown, the legs are separ. ately pivoted to a plate 10 at 8, 9 and have interengaging arcuate racks 11. One leg has an extension 14 coupled by a nylon thread 15 to the spindle 16 of a dial indicator rotatable against a spring 20. The scale associated with the screw 25 is at 28 on the periphery of the nut 27. The needles 30 are clamped by screws 31 to be axially adjustable. A gauge for effecting the adjustment may be located by holes, not shown, in the legs 6, 7.
