Abstract

878,103. Height gauges. COLLINS & SON Ltd., E. F. Aug. 7, 1959 [Aug. 7, 1958], No. 25344/58. Class 106 (2). A height gauge comprises a base 1, a vertical pedestal 2, a slide 7 movable along the pedestal 2, hardened steel balls 4, means for coarse positioning of the slide 7 and fine setting means 17 mounted on the slide 7 and associated with a dial gauge 25 which gives a direct reading of the fine setting. The steel balls 4 are set in sockets in the pedestal 2 and are engaged by a plunger 12 for coarse setting whilst fine setting is by use of a micrometer screw 17, which raises or lowers the feeler arm 19. This arm carries a pin 21 which abuts the end of the plunger 23 of the dial gauge 25.
