744,222. Height-gauges. DYSON, P. Nov. 22, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 32530/53. Class 106 (2). The vertical bar 5 of a height-gauge is of channel-shaped crosssection with the section of greatest moment of inertia disposed to resist deflection of the bar by pressure of a workpiece on the gauging finger carried by the bar. The finger is carried on a slide 29 bearing a halfnut 31 in engagement with a screwed shaft 17 extending through the bar and rotatable for fine adjustment of the finger by a gear 19 engaging with a worm rotated by a finger-knob 25. For coarse adjustment the half-nut is removed from engagement with the screwed shaft by a spring-loaded plunger 33. A screw 37 is provided for clamping the slide 29 to the bar.
