Abstract
1,050,853. Roller-and-bar mills. J. M. A. BRIZON. May 27, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 21858/64. Heading B2A. In a roller-and-bar mill in which the bar is pressed against the roller, e.g. by means of fluid-pressure operated jacks, the bar having two lips separated by a groove which is closed at its extremities, the thickness of the two lips combined is at most equal to the width of the groove and discharge means are provided to limit and control the back pressure of the material which fills the groove. As shown in Fig. 1, material is discharged from the groove of bar 4f and returned to hopper 2 by means of a conduit 11f 12f in which is disposed a gear pump 10f driven from roller 1. The pump may be driven independently. In a modification. Fig. 3, groove 9 communicates through an orifice 25 with a bore 26 the position of which is controlled by a rod 26a coupled to a screw 26b having a micrometric thread and operable by a knob 29 carrying graduations opposite a reference mark carried by a member 30. In a further modification, a rod, similar to rod 26a is coupled to an elastic diaphragm which is fixed to a screw, similar to screw 26b, through the intermediary of an elastic member.
