849,727. Sugar-cane mills. SOC. FIVES LILLE-CAIL. June 26, 1959 [June 26, 1958], No. 22007/59. Class 59 In a sugar - cane mill having a feed roller, a delivery roller and an upper intermediate roller, the roller drive is effected though the shaft of one of the lower rollers the position of the axis of which is fixed. As shown, the shaft 7 of the delivery roller 6 is driven from a motor-driven shaft 8 through a coupling 9. The shaft 3 of the upper roller 2 is driven from the shaft 7 through gears 10, 11 and the shaft 5 of the feed roller 4 driven from the shaft 7 through gears 12, 13. The roller 2 is movable towards the roller 6 against the pressure of the sugar cane by pressure fluid acting on a piston 18 movable in a cylinder formed in a head member 17. The shafts 3, 5 of the rollers 2, 4 are adjustable by means of adjustable wedges 26, 33 respectively. In a modifiaction, the piston has an integral rod mounted in an externally screwthreaded head plug adjustable in a screwthreaded bore in the head member. In a further modification, the drive is effected through the shaft of the feed roller.
