Abstract
874,036. Casting- machines. MANNESMANN A.G. June 5, 1958 [June 11, 1957; June 14, 1957], No. 18006/58. Class 83 (1). In a continuous casting plant, pairs of auxiliary conveying rolls 4, 5, 6 are interposed between the bottom of the mould 1 and the main conveying rolls 2 which are placed below the liquid core, and the starting bar 7 is slightly longer than the distance between succeeding pairs of rolls. The pressure exerted by a pair of auxiliary rolls on the starting bar is relieved when the bar becomes subjected to pressure by the succeeding pair of auxiliary rollers, so that no pressure is exerted upon the casting with a liquid core. The auxiliary rollers 15, 16, Fig. 2, are spring-urged towards the casting by springs 20 adjustable by hand wheels 21, and their distance apart may be increased by the thrust of pistons 22.
