A roll stand comprises a top section (10) supporting the shaft (2a) of a top roll (1), a bottom section (4) supporting the shaft (2) of a bottom roll (1) and a middle portion (7) supporting the shafts (3) of vertical rolls (1), the sections being jointed along the axes of shafts (2), (2a), and being held together by tie-bolts (12). Shafts (2a) and (2), drive shafts (3) through bevel gears (11), (11a).
