1385486 Rolling mills DAVY LOEWY Ltd 5 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 27475/71 Heading B3M A vertical rolling mill has rolls 5, 6 which can be vertically removed from the mill by passing them in turn between a pair of gear-boxes 14, the rolls being driven via pivoted spindles 13, the gear-boxes 14 containing spur gearing, vertical shafts 17, and a common lower horizontal shaft 15. Each roll is supported in a housing 7 or 8 which is adjustable by screws 9 and balanced by hydraulic rams 10.
