Abstract
670,068. Roller grinding mills. LEHMANN CO., Inc., J. M. Aug. 17, 1950 [Sept. 27, 1949], No. 20421/50. Class 59 A roller grinding mill of the type having one of its rollers adjustable toward and from another roller comprises a hydraulic ram secured to the frame of the mill, a screw-jack disposed between the adjustable roller and the plunger of the ram, and adjusting means connected to the jack and off-set from the thrust line of the jack, whereby the thrust of the jack will not be taken by the adjusting means but by the ram and by the latter transmitted directly to the frame. A screw 11 threaded into each bearing 8 of an adjustable roller 1 abuts at its rear end a plunger 17 of a hydraulic ram 18, secured to the frame of the mill and in communication with a pressure gauge 20 and a relief valve. To adjust the roller 1, the screw 11 is rotated by a gear 12 slidably keyed thereon and in mesh with a gear 14 on a shaft 15 turned by a handle 16. In a mill with three rollers, the central one journalled in stationary bearings, the outer rollers may be adjusted by these means.
