743,973. Roller and roller-and-breast mills. HOLMES BROS. PAINT MACHINERY, Ltd. Sept. 3, 1951 [June 2, 1950], No. 13861/50. Class 59. In a roller mill having co-operating fixed and displaceable power-driven rollers 2a, 2b, each of the rollers has an end or shaft 1 coupled to a driving spindle 3 of a driving mechanism in coaxial floating relation thereto by an interposed drive transmission Oldham-type coupling 6 which freely permits the rotating roller and driving spindle to assume axially eccentric positions while remaining coupled together in axially parallel driving relation. The pressure between the rollers is produced and controlled hydraulically. The invention is also applicable to roller-and-breast mills. Specification 743,113 is referred to.
