Abstract

758,120. Roller-and-bar mills. SCHOFFEL, L. Feb. 15, 1954, [Feb. 13, 1953, Sept. 22, 1953], No. 4398/54. Class 59. In a roller-and-bar mill, the bar, or the forwardmost bar in the case of multi-bar arrangements, is provided on its front face with a wedge surface which has associated therewith automatically acting spring-loaded end-pressure pins. In the form shown in Fig. 1, spring- loaded pressure pins 34 carried by a member 33 act on the wedge surface 32 of a bar 1 to urge the latter against the front face 31 of the wall 2a of a hopper. The upper part of the bar 1 has T- section slots engaged by the heads of pins 12 resiliently suspended from an adjusting screw 3. In another form, Fig. 2, spring-loaded pressure pins 11<SP>1</SP> carried by the outer arm 10<SP>1</SP> of the wall 1<SP>1</SP> of a hopper engage a bar 7<SP>1</SP> provided with a wedge surface 12<SP>1</SP>. The bar 7<SP>1</SP> is provided with a T-slot 8<SP>1</SP> engaged by an iron 6<SP>1</SP> suspended by means of bolts 5<SP>1</SP> from a number of spring- loaded pressure pins 4<SP>1</SP> provided on a yoke 3<SP>1</SP>. The latter is suspended from a member 2<SP>1</SP> which is connected with an adjusting spindle.
