Abstract

556,313. Rolling screw threads; centreless grinding. STEINLE, L C., and HANWELL, C. H. March 25, 1942, No. 3970. [Class 83 (iv)] ,Also in Group XXIII] A work rest, for use in thread rolling machines of the kind described in Specification 516,233, is stated to be suitable also for use in centreless grinding machines and comprises a trough shaped member a forming part of a circular cylinder and mounted in a concave bed b. A projection f on the member a projects into a groove on the bed and is engaged by a spring confined in the groove to maintain the end of the member a in contact with an adjusting screw g. The bed b is adjustable axially and laterally on the bar d by means of a device consisting of two keys o at right angles to and rigid with a key n, the former engaging keyways in the bed and the latter in the base. A clamping screw p passes through a clearance hole in the bed.
