Abstract

717,271. Wrenches. JERRAM, W. A. Jan. 8, 1953 [April 21, 1952], No. 9970/52. Class 61 A wrench for inserting or extracting studs comprises a box 1 intended to concentrically surround the stud and provided with three or more radially adjustable plungers 6, (not shown) 7, 8 each carrying a roller grip 15 which on relative rotation between the stud and box, rolls on the perimeter of the stud. The plungers are urged outwardly by compression springs 12 which co-operate with pins 13 working in keyways. Each roller 15 rolls in an inwardly facing keyway in the box against the concavely curved end face of its plunger with which it is rotatably held in contact by a tension spring 21. The plungers are pressed inwardly to grip the stud by a bell shaped adjustable sleeve 9 and locking nut 10. The depth to which the stud is inserted is controlled by an adjustable depth gauge 18 fixed in position by the tommy bar 17 which is screwed through the body by means of the tommy bar 17<SP>1</SP>. The tommy bar 16 is fixed to the body.
