Abstract

550,599. Wrenches. MATCHETTE, E. W. Sept. 18, 1941, No. 11951. [Class 61 (iii)] The inner jaw 16 of a wrench is pivoted at 17 between the wings 13 of the slide 14 and has its rounded pivoted end seated in a recess 18a in a block 18 secured to the slide to relieve the pivot of pressure, and formed with ratchet teeth 18b normally held in engagement with teeth 10a on the shank 10 by a spring 20. Thumb pressure on the slide at 14a disengages the teeth and enables the slide to be adjusted. A projection on the slide engages a groove 22 in the shank to prevent rocking of the upper end of the slide in use.
