[Also in Group XXII] Rule-holders.-A work-holder for mitering machines, such as those used by compositors for mitering rules, comprises a slidable bed 1, with tongues 1a engaging guides in the machine table, and carrying a graduated gauge 2. A clamp 3 co-acting with the gauge 2, and bifurcated at its operative end, is connected to the bed by two pairs of parallel links 4. A spring 7 tends to move the clamp away from the bed. The clamping pressure is adjusted by rotating a handle 9 having a screw-threaded stud 9a engaging a threaded hole in the bed: The handle is then used to slide the bed along the guides.
