Abstract

593,872. Work-holders. COX, S., and BLACKSTONE & CO., Ltd. June 18, 1945, No. 15458. [Class 83 (iii)] A clamping device for holding a work-piece on a machine table comprises a slotted plate 1 with transverse serrations 4 engaging corresponding serrations 6 in a block 5 slidable on a bolt 3 and held against the plate by a nut 11. In a modification, the block 5 has a single projection engaging one of several arcuate grooves in the plate. The plates may be reversible and have serrations on both sides and the feet 13 may be rounded, serrated or have V-grooves for gripping cylindrical articles. A cam or hydraulic or pneumatic plungers may be used to force the block 5 against the plate 1.
