Abstract

732,303. Work-holders. STANLEIGH, E. W. H. Feb. 26, 1954 [May 22, 1953], No. 14535/53. Class 83 (3). A work-holding clamp comprises a clamping member having one end for bearing on the work at two laterally spaced points and supported at the other end by mating part-spherical surfaces whereby the clamping member rests on said support so as to bear at two points on the work, and means for applying pressure to the clamping member between its ends to force it towards a work-table. The clamping member 10 is carried at one end by a " U "-shaped support 11 having a flat base to rest on a packing-piece or table 13. The other end of the clamping member has rounded lugs 25 to give two-point contact on the work 12. The clamping member engages the support 11 through a part-spherical seat 15, pins 20 engaging slots 19 in the support to hold the support and clamp together and to allow pivotal movement to engage irregular work. Clamping is effected by a bolt 28 engaging a T-slot in the table, and passing through a hole 29 in the clamping member 10 and a part-spherical washer 27 engaged by a nut 32.
