Abstract
733,315. Lathe steady rests. MYFORD ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and MOORE, J. March 3, 1954 [Dec. 13, 1952], No. 31638/52. Class 83 (3). A lathe steady rest of the type having one or more work-supporting plungers slidable in a bracket carried on the lathe saddle has each plunger B moved by an adjusting screw C, the head of which engages one of a series of spaced recesses E in the side of the plunger, the latter being turned about its axis when it is required to disengage it from the screw-head to move it longitudinally to another recess for a further range of adjustment. A flat F on the side of the plunger clears the screw-head and the plunger is prevented from turning or sliding after adjustment, by a locking screw G in the supporting bracket A at right angles to the plunger. One, two, or three plungers may be employed for supporting the work.
