Abstract

826,695. Linear dimension gauges. ROLLSROYCE Ltd. Jan. 24, 1958 (Jan. 25, 1957], No. 2875/57. Class 106 (2). Apparatus for measuring the wall thickness of the bore in a turbine blade (not shown) comprises a fixed magnet A1 which forms an abutment for the outside of the blade and a pivoted rod B carrying an enlarged contact B1 adapted to contact the wall of the bore when attracted thereto by the magnet, the movements of the rod B being indicated optically. The blade to be tested is mounted on a hollow spigot H on an adjustable carriage J, the spigot being carried by a part pivotable about H2 to accommodate differing sizes of blade. The rod B passes through the spigot H and is pivoted at C, the other end engaging a pin E which acts on a pivoted mirror E2 and thus an indication of the wall thickness is given on a scale G by a ray of light from the lamphouse F.
