930,510. Bourdon gauges. NEGRETTI & ZAMBRA Ltd. Aug. 24, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 29311/60. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XX] The resilient characteristics of the tube 5 of a Bourdon gauge are supplemented by a spring 14 whose strength is chosen for each tube 5 to compensate for differences between tubes 5 when mass produced and thus to produce a predetermined reading on a fixed scale 10 when a predetermined pressure is applied to the tube 5. The strength is calculated by measuring the amount of overshoot of the pointer for a predetermined pressure. The spring 14 is connected between a fixed part 9 and the spindle 8 of a pointer movable in scale 10 by deflection of tube 5. If the tube 5 is connected to a reservoir the pressure in the tube depends on the temperature of the fluid in the reservoir and the scale 10 may be calibrated directly in units of temperature.
