756,539. Dial gauges. AKTIEBOLAGET C. E. JOHANSSON. Dec. 30, 1954 [Jan. 7, 1954], No. 37702/54. Class 106(2). A dial gauge comprises a pointer 3 carried by a resilient band 4 which is supported by springs 10, 11 in a frame 8, twisted about its own longitudinal axis and connected by a spring 12 to a plunger 2 supported either side of the band 4 by a spring 1 and spring diaphragm 5 for longitudinal movement freely through but out of contact with a supporting tube 6 to which the frame 8 is attached and by which the dial gauge is attached to a part 15 of a linear-dimension measuring instrument. Clearance between the band 4 and plunger 2 is provided by a hole 13 in the plunger or by offsetting the plunger in the region of the band. Movement of the plunger causes elongation or contraction of the band 4 which rotates the pointer 3 over a scale 9. Specification 390,979 is referred to.
