[Also in Divisions B3 and F2] Load indicating means for use in a machine tool toolstock or for indicating pressure differences in fluid-pressure apparatus comprises a stock 45 of dished spring (Belleville) washers 50 to 53, each washer having a different flexural rigidity and which are arranged in order of their flexural rigidities, the axial deflection of the spring stock being directly proportional to the axial load applied. The axial deflection of the spring stock is transmitted to a meter 61 by way of a plunger 75 which is adapted to actuate a pointer 67 which indicates the load applied. The actuation of the pointer 67 may be effected by a sector and pinion mechanism 69, 70 or alternatively by the plunger 75 acting on a spring-loaded lever 85. The scale on the dial 100 of the meter 61 is graduated in accordance with the respective flexural rigidities of the spring washers.
