652,259. Pressure gauges; indicating and recording apparatus. SOC. ANON. DES ETABLISSEMENTS J. COCARD. Nov. 28, 1947, No. 31600. Convention date, June 19, 1942. [Classes 106 (ii) and 106 (iv)] In a measuring apparatus an element 1, sensitive to variations in the magnitude to be measured, e.g. speed or pressure, actuates an indicating or recording element successively through different links 2, 5 having different transmission ratios, thus opening out part of the indicating or recording scale relative to the rest. In the pressure gauge shown, a Bourdon tube 1 has a fork 6 at its free end, the arms of which are connected by the links 2, 5 to studs 7, 3 respectively, adjustably fixed on an extension 19 of a gear sector 9 at different distances from its pivot 18. The sector meshes with a pinion (not shown) on an indicating pointer axle 16. The studs 3, 7 engage slots in the links so that only one link is effective at a time, each link acting for a different pressure range. The length of link 5 can be adjusted to alter the point of change-over from one link to the other. The movable pointer may be replaced by a fixed index and a rotating indicating drum, or by a stylus recording on a drum to which is given a rotary and translatory motion. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also an electric contact on the indicating pointer which engages a fixed contact to close a circuit when a certain pressure is reached. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
