Abstract

952,446. Supports for gauges. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 7, 1960 [May 12, 1959; Oct. 20, 1959], Nos. 16241/59 and 35519/59. Heading G1M. [Also in Division E2] A dial gauge is adjustably clamped to an arm 41 which in turn is adjustably clamped to a bracket 28. The bracket 28 may be held at any desired position along the column 12. Inside the column 12 is fixed a tapering cantilever 14, preferably of mild steel. A screw 15 abuts the end of this cantilever and when screwed in applies a bending moment to the column 12 through the cantilever 14 to adjust the position of the gauge to fine limits. A screw 24 locked by a soft plug 26 applies an initial deflection to the cantilever, and a further adjustable screw 21 limits the total deflection.
