Abstract

571.493. Winding fabrics. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Feb. 22, 1944, No. 3276. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1943. [Class 42 (ii)] A fabric winding apparatus comprises a guide roll 4 adapted to be driven by the fabric passing over it and to guide the fabric to a take-up roll, and means actuated by the rotation of the roll 4 angularly oscillating the axis of that roll. The stub shaft 17' of the roll 4 is carried in a self-aligning bearing 18 fixed to the machine frame, while the stub shaft 17 of the roll 4 carries a worm or skew gear 22 meshing with a worm wheel or another skew gear 23 carried by a shaft 24 rotating in bearings in a yoke 21. Also attached to shaft 24 are crank discs 25 to which links 26 are pivoted, the links 26 being pivotally carried by a bracket 27 attached to the machine frame. The fabric is thus wound on to the take up roll, which is positively driven, so that the selvedges are arranged in staggered relationship. Specification 559,066 is referred to.
