Abstract

565,213. Hydraulic jacks for aircraft. ARMANDIAS, L. S., and ASSOCIATED MESSIER INVESTMENTS, Ltd. Nov. 6,1942, No. 15727. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXX and XXXIII] A jack for operating undercarriages, bomb doors &c. on aircraft comprises a double-acting cylinder 38 and a piston 40 with a hollow rod in slidable telescopic communication with an accumulator chamber 53 in the cylinder, the piston being movable in one direction by supply of fluid from a pump 58 through valve devices against the accumulator pressure, and in the opposite direction either by supply of fluid or by the accumulator pressure. In another form of apparatus, the hollow piston rod extends on both sides of the piston and is open at its inner end and thus in communication with an accumulator chamber formed in the cylinder end by a partition through which the hollow rod extension slides. Piston locking means as described in Specifications 527,225 and 551,673 may be provided. Specification 485,617 also is referred to.
