Abstract
626,806. Hydraulic jacks. ELECTROHYDRAULICS, Ltd., and HACKNEY, S. July 24, 1947, No. 19950. [Class 69 (ii)] A cylinder 1 encloses a main, floating piston 6 mounted on a hollow piston-rod 3 formed with a secondary piston 5, fluid acting on both pistons for extension and on the annular area of the piston 5 for retraction. Fluid is admitted to the cylinder through a connection 7 via ports 9, and forces the piston 5 outwards until it abuts a gland thereafter acting on the secondary piston. For retraction, fluid is admitted at 11. In a modification, the secondary piston comprises a washer on the end of the rod 3, and extension of the jack is obtained by admitting fluid through a port at the inner end of the cylinder. A locking-device may be incorporated as described in Specification 527,225.
