Abstract

449,876. Hydraulic locking devices. DOWTY, G. H., 17, Lansdown Crescent, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Jan. 3, 1935, No. 244. [Class 4] [See also Groups XXIX, XXV, and XXX] Means for retracting an aircraft undercarriage comprises a device operated in one direction only by hydraulic pressure and in the other by gravity or a mechanical force. A cylinder B connected at one end to a pipe line C and at the other to a non-return valve H, which normally prevents escape of liquid from the cylinder and thus prevents movement of the piston A in one direction. When there is pressure in the line C, it acts through a byepass on a plunger F which opens the valve H to permit the piston to be moved by the pressure. A reservoir L is fitted.
